Bye, bye captcha

Screenshot_120514_014101_PMI was very happy to see Google rolling out this “no-captcha” API that allows webmasters to no longer have to show that ugly and conversion-killing captcha script to authenticate human users vs. bots.

CAPTCHA has been my pet peeve for years.  Although I have not run across statistics on it, I believe that CAPTCHA has a dramatic effect on user experience and contributes to significantly higher levels of abandonment.

In the beginning, CAPCHA wasn’t terrible.  Most people can add 5+4.  But, now, it has become ridiculous in an effort to combat more complex bots.  Glad to see this development and very excited to see this implemented.
