We have been using this cool thing at LifePoint recently during our Sunday morning services.  It’s called, YouVersion and if you have an iPhone or Blackberry you can use it for free.  Bunches of people have asked me about it so here’s a little video tutorial on how to make it work.

I’m really excited about the message that God has for us this Sunday at LifePoint.  For the next few weeks we are going to be talking about what it means to be a servant and this Sunday we’ll take a unique look at the role of the local congregation in serving the community.

In order to fully serve the needs of the local community there definitely has to be a shift in everybody’s thinking, and that shift should start from within the walls of the local church.  For years many churches have done a very good job of holding to the status quo but in order to reach developing society we will need to adapt and change ourselves.

How do we serve the local community?  How do we adapt and change?  What are the most important questions we should be asking right now as a church?  Where will we get the energy, resources, and time to do all this?

Join us on Sunday at LifePoint Christian Church as we work to find the answers to each of these questions.

What does it mean to THINK like Jesus?  What does it mean when we ACT like Him?  What would change about our world if we could SEE people the way He saw them and how would our lives change if we actually LOVED others they way Jesus loved others?

We started a short series on SERVING at LifePoint this last Sunday.  It’s so important for us to remember that our role as believers is to become servants.  We look to Christ as the ultimate model of this lifestyle.

What happens when we decide to “get off the bench” spiritually and physically and dive into God’s work for the purpose of building his kingdom?  I love this passage in Mark (4:26-29) because it really emphasizes the fact that the Kingdom of God is built by God alone – but He still uses us.  Even if we’re not sure exactly how we can be used.

Just want to say thank you to all who stepped forward to help with recent Senior Intervention Group needs.  After putting the word out yesterday, many contacted me to volunteer to do yardwork, clean gutters, and provide transportation for Lake Mary senior citizens.  This is exactly the kind of thing we were hoping to be involved in at LifePoint.  Once again, thank you Lake Mary and LifePoint!

About 5 years ago we had a lot of fun with a “Duct-Tape” themed Father’s day service so…we’re bringing it back!  You know that guys everywhere just love duct-tape.  Maybe it’s because it’s gray (our favorite color), or because is durable, or because it makes that cool sound when you rip a new piece off of the roll.  I think it’s because it just makes everything easier to fix.

We’re going to have some fun playing a couple games, giving away some prize money, and making sure that every dad in the audience gets a little gift.

For the message I plan to talk about how duct-tape provides an interesting parallel to the kind of men we should be in our daily lives as believers in Christ.  Our scripture passage will be Titus 2:6-8.

Right now I’m putting some of the final details together for our Bogey Killers Golf League Awards Banquet.  We have Wally Armstrong (www.wallyarmstrong.com) scheduled to be our keynote speaker.  Mr. Armstrong was a PGA Touring Pro for many years, playing golf at the highest levels.  For a while he even held the rookie scoring record at The Masters.

Needless to say, Wally is a devout believer and plans to bring a message of great inspiration and hope.  He has written a great book that I thouroughly enjoyed called, “The Mulligan.”  The book follows the story of a man whose golf game mirrors his life – it’s not that good.  Through the help of “the old pro,” a character that represents God, the man finds out how to enjoy golf by not taking it so seriously, and how to find enjoyment in life through Christ.

The banquet is taking place on June 28th at 6:30 in the clubhouse at Mayfair Country Club.  If’ you’re already a Bogey Killer then there is no cost.  It’s free.  If you would like to come to the banquet and you are not registered then there is a small $15 registration fee.
