Recently, I just went to Chicago with the family. It was an educational trip and I learned a few things about traveling to Chicago with kids.
- Think about going when Chicago kids are not in school. Go then.
- Get the City Pass (http://www.citypass.com/chicago) . It’s a deal. With this pass, ($96/adults, $79/children) you can get access to all of these attractions:
- Shedd Aquarium
- Skydeck Chicago
- Field Museum
- Museum of Science and Industry OR 360 Chicago
- Adler Planetarium OR Art Institute of Chicago
- If going to the SkyDeck (Willis Tower/Sears Tower), go early in the day. If you wait until later in the day, the sun is right behind you when you are trying to make pictures on the Skydeck. And, by the way, the Skydeck is pretty phenomenal.
- Great places to eat with kids:
- Top pizza:
- Gino’s East
- Lou Malnati’s
- Top beef/burgers/dogs:
- Mr. Beef
- Top pizza:
- Great place to stay: I highly recommend the Embassy Suites (511 N Columbus Dr
Chicago, IL). It’s just north of the river and is in a great location. It’s actually in the process of being remodeled (Spring, 2015). So, it’s a great value. When you have kids, you can’t go wrong with the awesome, free breakfast either.
