Until recently, Facebook has been providing Bing as an option for those who wanted to search on Facebook. However, recently, that has changed.
This appears to be a great first move for Facebook toward integrating social graph content, images, and Facebook loaded video into “more social” search results. It’s a logical move for a site grounded in social media: mix in search with social.
However, I think this is a step beyond that. While the evolution of Facebook on mobile has improved ad revenue performance, it’s pretty clear that the big piece of revenue pie still out there is search. If Facebook can ever start pulling that revenue with a commercial intent, it will be a game changer for their financial outlook. Good move, Facebook.
